Elie...who said anything about reform or left wing?? Eliezer Berkovits was a highly respected Orthodox Rabbi. Yoel Bin Nun is very much in he National religious camp.

the point is that fearing civilian casualties as well as being tolerant and inclusive is a Halachic position...not reform or liberal lefty - its Halachic...

but for some reason what 'frum' people are getting told is that a Torah position means seeing liberalism as alien. it means destroying your enemy. It means being ultra strict on who you convert to Judaism.

And i believe this to be a travesty of Halacha and Judaism...calevnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15743286.post-91047301182744682012010-01-11T21:22:25.935+02:002010-01-11T21:22:25.935+02:00To imply that every orthodox person as a 'twis...To imply that every orthodox person as a 'twisted right winger' (and that the solution is to become reform) shows exactly the same intolerance and audacity as you criticise. Becoming reform brings nothing new to the table of tolerance, and you'll find many racist and intolerant people amongst the left wing bigots as you do amongst the right wing bigots - they're just bigoted in a different way and towards a different grouping. The issue is one of mutual respect, and neither the left nor the right has a monopoly on this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15743286.post-67480290042413762742010-01-11T10:43:11.475+02:002010-01-11T10:43:11.475+02:00How about we all become reform Jews and give up on...How about we all become reform Jews and give up on this 'intolerant', 'xenophobic', 'soldiers ahead of civilians' (Gaza ahead of Jenin/Lebanon) attitude!
